From Torn to Transformed

From Torn to Transformed

When I created this cyanotype, I already knew I was going to tear it apart.

It was an experiment in letting go — an intentional act of trusting the process before I even began. I exposed the paper to sunlight, painted it, and then, once it dried, tore it into five pieces. Those fragments became the foundation for two new mixed media collages layered with watercolor, gold, and texture.

This isn’t destruction — it’s transformation. It’s what my Mixed Media Botanicals class is all about: creating, deconstructing, and rebuilding beauty from the unexpected.

Sometimes art asks us to release control — to invite surprise, texture, and imperfection to take the lead. That’s where the magic happens.

Both new pieces will debut at The Wildflower Studio Grand Opening on November 7th, a celebration of creativity, community, and the art of becoming.
